10 excuses to skip the gym
I don’t want to exercise because…
- I’m too tired
I’m tired (read: a little lazy) and resting your body is good for you, so an extra day of rest can’t hurt. I’ll go tomorrow, I swear.
- I have muscle ache
My muscles still ache so much from last time, ouch! So, I really won’t enjoy working out – stretching at home will have to do! Stretching out on the couch that is – with a blanket – a movie and a cup of green tea.
- I don’t want to cycle in the rain
It’s raining, so I’ll get wet, and working out in wet clothes is hideous. Jogging in the rain is a total no-go as well, so I’ll simply stay at home.
- I’m too busy
After a long day at work or college, I still have to go food shopping, cook, clean up (or study for an exam), so then it just gets too late.
- I want to watch a particular film/TV series
I’ve been waiting for this for ages. It’s me time!
- I’ve been invited out for drinks in town
My friends are all going out for a drink and I want to join them!!
- My BFFF cancelled
- I no longer have any nice gym clothes
- I’ve got no interest in doing what I have to do today
- I’ve been asked out on a date
Do you any of these ten excuses sound familiar? If so, then it’s high time you take a different look at exercise. It’s important that you get regular exercise because this will improve your physical condition, will make you less stressed and boost your immune system (so you’ll be healthier and get far fewer colds!). What’s more, your skin will look more radiant and that pair of skinny jeans will fit all the better too. Of course, it’s important that you’re comfortable in your own skin, and every now and then you should certainly treat yourself! More on this soon.
A few of our sporty Hunkemöller ambassadors have jotted down some tips which will hopefully help restore your motivation and make you feel like exercising again. Good luck ladies!
Gisèle (@gigigisele): Schedule your exercise time and go with a training buddy with you – someone you go to the gym with you if you’ve lost your motivation. Once you’ve done your workout, you’ll be raring to go again. And then there’s the one guaranteed thing that always makes me happy and gets me going… new clothes for the gym! Feel great in your new outfit – a very good reason to definitely go to the gym!
Martine (@stayhealthyandfittogether): An hour’s workout is nothing! You’ll still have the whole evening to recuperate and treat yourself to a nice cup of tea under your blanket. It’s also good to set yourself a goal (a fit body, a PR executive doing a 10 km run?) Are you going to achieve your goal by staying at home and sitting on the couch? No! And working out always energises you – it’ll do you good after a long day.
Cynthia (@run.cyn): Make an agreement with yourself about how often you want to exercise. If something else fun comes up that you want to do, you can simply do your workout on another day, no problem!? Skipping a session is not my thing, but having that agreement with myself about how often I want to work out means I don’t feel guilty about moving a session. This year, it’s #no_excuses!
