The most delicious snacks to take to the beach
The prospect of a beach day is so lovely. Bikini, check! Towel, check! Suncream, check! But which snacks are ideal to take with you (read: don’t melt) and are also a bit healthy? Eating a whole bag of crisps in a bikini and having a bloated stomach is something we want to avoid.Check out our favourites here!
For those with a sweet tooth – banana and blueberry muffins
Preheat the (convection) oven to 180°. Add 2 bananas, 3 eggs, 100g oatmeal, 1 sachet baking powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 sachet vanilla sugar and 2 tbsp desiccated coconut to a food processor and mix until smooth and light. Carefully stir in 250g blueberries with a spatula and pour the mixture into muffin cases. Bake for 30 minutes and enjoy!
Healthy & delicious – fruit skewers
Fruit is always a good idea. Put pineapple, pear, apple and strawberry on a skewer. Don’t want sticky fingers? Go for seedless grapes or cherries. When you are in a big group, a juicy watermelon is a real summer must-have.
Lunch – vegetable wraps
Spread hummus on two wraps and then add rocket, (roasted) red pepper, sundried tomatoes, pine nuts and a little bit of pesto. And roll!
Roasted pumpkin seeds
Did you make pumpkin soup yesterday and have a lot of leftover seeds? Preheat the oven to 200° and after washing and boiling the seeds (20 minutes with salt), pat them dry. Spread them over a baking tray, sprinkle with olive oil, salt, pepper and ½ tsp each of paprika, cumin seeds and cayenne pepper. Put them in the oven for 10-15 minutes and check them every now and then to check they don’t burn.
16:00 snack – sweet potato fries
A healthy treat if you fancy a savoury snack around 16:00. Preheat the (convection) oven to 180° and cut the sweet potato (skin on) into thin strips. Place the fries on some baking paper and sprinkle with olive oil and coarse sea salt. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes and check if they are nice and crispy. Recommended: place some kitchen paper in your bowl to make sure that any excess oil is absorbed.
Stay hydrated – water with fruit
A bottle of water is a must but also a little boring. What do you think of our water bottle in which you can also add some fruit for a bit of refreshment? Our ideal mix: lemon, lime and a bit of orange.
