– interview – Xelly’s unforgettable summer
What does your #unforgettable summer look like and who would you prefer to spend it with?
‘I prefer spending the summer with my boyfriend and family. With an #unforgettable summer I think about lovely weather, fine food, relaxing, combing the markets, you name it. Last year we went to Ibiza with and we painted all together, really nice! If I’m not on the beach I love getting a good massage, and fresh coconut plus the beach is the ultimate combination. I’m a real coconut fan, ha ha! Apart from that, coconut is ideal for stimulating the growth of eyebrows or eyelashes (also in my book ‘Make-up’).
Vacation also means good preparation (unfortunately you can’t take it all with you). What is a must in your suitcase?
‘Real must-haves are comfortable dresses, a bikini and vintage jeans, slippers or cowboy boots. Very quickly from the beach to the boulevard in a perfect outfit.’
Once you’ve arrived, you put on your favourite bikini and you can’t wait to get to the sun/sea/beach. What is your beauty look?
‘As soon as I’ve got a little tan, I apply a good sun lotion with a UV factor and a nice glow. If I can still use a little colour I add a tinted day cream. I advise against foundation on the beach, it can turn out a little grey.’
After a day at the beach you’re invited to take a relaxed drink. What is your easy beauty tip to show up cocktail-proof in a hip beach tent?
‘Mascara, definitely! You’ve already got a little colour on the beach so I use ‘blotting paper’ (powder) to take the first shine off the middle of my face and a little gloss for beautifully hydrated lips.’
Oh no! Your skin is glowing and that’s a sure sign that you’ve spent much too long in the sun. What is your rescue method?
‘I sometimes use Night Repair from Estée Lauder, it calms the skin and soaks in well. After-sun is a must too, because your skin quickly dries out and needs good hydration. But simply stay out of the sun for a while.’
Those few weeks of vacation have sadly flown by and we have to get back to work/back to school again. How do you make sure that you can keep enjoying your tanned hide, your beach hair and that fantastic summer glow for a few more weeks?
‘Properly put on some lotion every day so your skin stays nice and supple and won’t peel. Don’t scrub your body too much, because you’ll lose your tan faster if you do. Afterwards you can lounge in the park with your girlfriends in shorts to preserve your tan 🙂 .’
What is definitely on trend this summer and can we spot you with it too?
‘What I really find a nice style is beachy hair with a floppy curl, shaped eyebrows, glowy skin, good eyelashes and glossy lips. Flared jeans and a nice pair of heels or cowboy boots and denim for the summer!’
What number is an absolute must on our summer playlist?
‘Numbers from Ivete Sangalo for the Spanish vibe, that puts me straight in the summer mood.’
