- Lack of vitamins
If you are getting enough vitamin D, your fat loss will increase! Studies have been conducted on a group of people who were given extra vitamin D for twelve weeks and then compared to a group who were not. The results? The people receiving extra vitamin D lost more fat! You can find out whether you are lacking in vitamin D by taking a blood test. A healthy body is supposed to have a level above 40 ng/ml.
- Not being strict enough about avoiding sugars
Sugars are added to almost everything you buy, which means you can consume plenty of sugars even when you are avoiding sweets. Check the packaging even more closely and eat food as fresh and unrefined as you can.
- Too much stress
Stress can cause your fat loss to stagnate. Mental stress due to being too busy, having lots of worries, and feelings of restlessness slow down fat loss. The level of cortisol hormone in your body increases, slowing fat loss. Your body also becomes more prone to infection and the normal functioning of the body is disrupted. Try meditation, get more rest and sleep, and really try to avoid stress.
- Training errors or too much cardio
By training errors I mean not challenging yourself enough, taking too much rest time between sets or training sessions, not using enough weight during weight training, doing too much endurance cardio, or exhausting yourself and overtraining. If your body is unable to recover and rest, this will disrupt the functioning of your body and your fat percentage will not fall. Go for sprint intervals, circuit training, weight training with 30 to 60 seconds’ rest in between and use enough weight (the last three reps should be nearly impossible!).
- Intolerance to certain foods
Many people suffer from a gluten or dairy intolerance without even realising it. This can also be established by means of a blood test. If you already suspect that you do not react well to a particular food, try not eating it for a week and see if you feel better! Intolerance to particular foods can also impede fat loss.
