Finding the perfect bikini can be a real chore, but from now on it doesn’t have to be. Hunkemöller’s ‘Director of Design’, Zoë Price-Smith shows that we have designed a suitable bikini for every figure and every situation. Whether you have a straight, hourglass, apple- or pear-shaped figure, these tips will help you find the perfect bikini for your body shape. Watch the swimwear style guide video, feel at your best in your bikini and make it an ‘unforgettable summer’!
Straight figure
Do you have a slim build that is not very curvy? Then you’re blessed with a straight figure. With your smaller cup size, a lot of eye-catching bikinis will suit you. Frills, fringes and prints give you that extra volume where needed. You can also go for a triangle top with padding or the ‘Maximizer’ top, which adds two cup sizes. The Maximizer’s gel filling means the top does not absorb water. Do you have narrow hips? If so, go for bikini bottoms with fun ties at the sides. These ties create volume. Show off your curves!
Hourglass figure
Do you have a larger cup size, a narrow waist and wider hips? Then you have the ultra-feminine hourglass figure. Do you have a larger cup size? Then choose good support. An underwire bikini top with straight straps is ideal. If you want your top to look a little smaller, pick a single colour but keep things playful with little decorations and studs. If you have lovely wide hips, go for bikini bottoms with a slightly higher waist, which has a narrowing effect.
Apple-shaped figure
If you’re blessed with an apple-shaped figure, you have somewhat fuller legs and hips, a shorter upper body and a smaller cup size: accentuate and lengthen your upper body by choosing low-waisted bikini bottoms. Want to hide your belly? Then go for a higher waist or a bathing suit with pleats around your waist. The pleats will create more volume at the top and emphasize the narrowest part of your waist.
Pear-shaped figure
Do you have narrow shoulders and a smaller cup size but wider hips and somewhat fuller legs? Then you have a pear-shaped figure. Strapless bandeaus will suit you because they’ll make your shoulders look wider. You can make wider hips look narrower with slightly higher bikini bottoms, which is also good for hiding a belly. A matching pareo always works well too and makes a great addition to you beach outfit!
So on trend
The swimwear collection includes items inspired by the SS14 catwalk trends. A big trend this season is the boho festival look combined with fringes and Aztec prints. You’ll also see colour blocking and bright colours with glittery details.
